I just came accross an incredible bit of information. If you're anything like me you love to learn but just can't afford, or don't have the time to continue with your education. Well I guess a few years back a handful of universities got together and decided to use the internet to offer FREE on-line courses, they call opencourseware. I'm talking Yale and MIT! Thier mission statement is "Universities working together to advance education and empower people worldwide through opencourseware". I checked all four of them out as I am trying to get funding to go for my associates as I am searching for work and everyone wants some sort of college degree nowadays. (It's like a H.S. diploma was in the 90's). They all look great and there is alot (over 2000) of classes offered. The only drawback to it is they do not give any certificates or credits for them, so it won't get you a degree but it will give you knowledge, and for those that havn't been in school for a while, it will give you the feel and get you back in the swing. Hey, I'm pretty sure this is the only way I will ever be able to say I took a few classes at Notre Dame. Here are the links:
I'm sorry Rose, I should have been more explicit in my post. I apologize. I was referring to the hundreds of commercials online and TV selling information that can be found for free. I do agree there is legitimate grant money out there from PROFESSIONAL GRANTWRITERS, unclaimed funds, organizations - not from the tons of recycled information that unsavory individuals are selling online simply to make a quick buck.
Again, my most sincere apologies.
"Never pay money for grant information" - ok what does that say to the many professional grantwriters and researchers out there?
"Free money - garbage" - Did you know that there is actually a term "free money" used to describe all the "unclaimed" money that is out there! This unclaimed money (and property) comes from people who have forgotten about bank accounts, safety deposit boxes, etc and if these persons are no longer alive then there are their heirs who are out there that don't even know about this money?
You are really going to have to educate yourself more about grants, grant programs and the grant process in general
As far as "free money" being garbage then just tell that to those that already have gotten grant money - legitimate grant money that they DO NOT have to pay back! Grant Basics 101
First of all never pay for grant information. All these commercials you see for free money? Garbage.
As for current employment...what type of job are looking for? You can try americas job exchange - I have found it to be the best.
Re: Medical transcription training/ financing Check out AHDI - if you haven't done so already. They do the accreditation for the program. You might also want to check into M-TEC - they are not only accredited by AHDI, but also have financial assistance. All links are below.
I am a grad student studying Instructional Design for Online Learning. My school requires residencies which are not covered by my financial aid. I am in need of grants or scholarships to cover the $5000 for this by fall 2006. Please let me know if you can help.
I've worked as a medical-surgical nurse for the past fourteen years and have decided that since my experience has led me into the training of newer nurses, I quite enjoy the educating aspect of nursing. Having graduated from an Associate's degree program, I realized the need to enter into a bachelor's program as the first step to getting into the education department of my hospital. I work as a night shift nurse and obtaining my degree on line has proven to be the most convenient avenue to take. But, alas, with convenience comes cost, and the programs seems to be one of the most expensive. With this in mind, I was wondering about the availability of financial assistance.
